Islamabad, February 2026 — Following the recent suicide attack at an Imambargah in Islamabad, Pakistani authorities have rejected claims circulating on social media that the incident represents a failure of the country’s intelligence system. Officials emphasized that intelligence effectiveness is measured by actionable results and threat mitigation, not by online narratives or political propaganda.
Authorities highlighted that intelligence agencies are working effectively in coordination with local communities, employing the globally recognized principle of “community intelligence.” Citizens are urged to report suspicious activities in their neighborhoods, mosques, seminaries, or social circles, as community involvement is critical in preventing extremist actions.
Officials further clarified that the arrest of hundreds of suspected terrorists in Karachi and other cities in recent months demonstrates the continued success of Pakistan’s intelligence and law enforcement agencies in pre-emptively neutralizing threats. Claims that a single incident reflects systemic failure were described as misleading and politically motivated propaganda, aimed at undermining public confidence.
Security officials stressed that terrorists are increasingly failing, while Pakistani intelligence and security forces continue to achieve results. Public cooperation, vigilance, and institutional coordination remain essential to maintaining national security and countering extremist threats.
