Special sub-committee to oversee security and development
According to the official statement, a special sub-committee headed by the KP chief minister will be formed to ensure effective monitoring of development work and periodic review of security operations.
The committee will hold monthly meetings and include elected representatives, the Peshawar corps commander, the KP chief secretary, the inspector general of police, provincial officials and federal representatives.
The meeting decided to pilot a provincial governance model in Malakand Division under the supervision of the police and other provincial institutions.
Upon success, the model will be rolled out in phases in the affected districts of Khyber, Orakzai and Kurram. The sub-committee will also focus on creating alternative employment opportunities, ensuring income support for locals and addressing the needs of temporarily displaced persons.
Authorities agreed on strict action against illegal SIM cards, explosives and extortion, along with phased profiling of non-custom-paid vehicles.
The meeting also stressed the need for close coordination between the federal and provincial governments and a unified stance to counter terrorism and prevent youth radicalization.
