A meeting of Ulema and Mashaikh on Monday strongly condemned the suicide attack carried out during Friday prayers at Khadijah-tul-Kubra Imambargah in the federal capital, declaring the assault a direct violation of Islamic teachings, constitutional values and basic human ethics.

The meeting was presided over by Sardar Muhammad Yousuf, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs. Participants unanimously agreed that targeting worshippers inside a place of worship was an unforgivable crime that had no connection with Islam or any legitimate religious doctrine.

They expressed full solidarity with the Pakistan Armed Forces and all federating units in their ongoing fight against terrorism.

With the holy month of Ramazan approaching, the Ulema conveyed a collective message to the nation, urging patience, piety, and mutual empathy.

They stressed that mosques, imambargahs, and religious pulpits must be used to promote inter-sect harmony and moral values, warning that divisive narratives were part of a wider conspiracy to weaken Pakistan from within.

The meeting categorically rejected the misguided ideology of Fitna al Khawarij and all forms of extremist and terrorist narratives. Participants resolved to confront both internal and external conspiracies aimed at disrupting Pakistan’s peace, social fabric, and religious unity.

Ulema and Mashaikh from all schools of thought pledged to actively counter sectarianism and hatred through sermons, religious education and community engagement.

They committed to guiding the younger generation away from extremism and towards tolerance, respect and national responsibility.

The gathering also agreed to enhance coordination between mosque and imambargah management committees and local administrations to improve security arrangements and ensure the timely reporting of suspicious activities.

Full support was extended to the government’s zero tolerance policy against terrorism. The participants demanded strict punishment for those responsible for the attack and called for prioritized assistance for the families of the martyrs.

Concluding the meeting, the Ulema reaffirmed that the nation stood united with the government and security forces and remained determined to uproot terrorism from Pakistan under all circumstances.
