Washington, Feb 2026 – Pakistan’s active participation in the Board of Peace (BoP) has allowed the country to advocate strongly for the rights of the Palestinian people, officials said, highlighting Islamabad’s growing role in global peace initiatives.
Speaking at the sidelines of the inaugural BoP session, Information Minister Ataullah Tarrar emphasized that Pakistan’s engagement in the US-led forum ensures its perspective is effectively represented in international discussions concerning Gaza and broader Palestinian issues. “Through our presence in the Board of Peace, Pakistan has been able to raise an effective voice for the Palestinian cause, ensuring their rights and aspirations are articulated firmly at the international level,” he said.
The minister underlined the importance of Palestinian self-determination as enshrined in United Nations Security Council resolutions. He called for the establishment of an independent, contiguous Palestinian state, affirming that the Palestinian people must have full control over their land and future. “Pakistan’s voice at the BoP reflects our commitment to justice and statehood for Palestinians, while also promoting stability in the region,” Tarrar added.
At the inaugural session of the Board of Peace, chaired by US President Donald Trump, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif urged an end to ceasefire violations in Gaza, stressing the importance of securing lasting peace in the conflict-hit Palestinian territories. PM Sharif highlighted the suffering endured by Palestinians under prolonged occupation and underscored that reconstruction efforts and humanitarian assistance must be facilitated without obstruction.
The BoP, established in January 2026, has been tasked with supporting ceasefire implementation and overseeing reconstruction in Gaza through a coordinated international effort. While the United States pledged $10 billion, participating countries committed $7 billion, and the United Nations pledged an additional $2 billion for humanitarian support. The Board’s work is expected to complement the International Stabilisation Force (ISF) in Gaza, with troop contributions from countries including Indonesia, Morocco, Albania, Kazakhstan, and Kosovo.
Observers note that Pakistan’s role at the BoP not only strengthens its diplomatic footprint but also positions Islamabad as a key advocate for human rights and regional stability. By actively participating in such forums, Pakistan has reaffirmed its commitment to principled diplomacy, constructive engagement, and global peace efforts, while giving Palestinians a strong and consistent voice in international policymaking.
