The National Mobilization Front of Afghanistan has strongly criticized the United Nations Security Council’s recent decision to remove several senior Taliban officials from the international sanctions list. The Front says this move is unjust for the Afghan people.
According to the National Front, the Taliban has ruled with oppression for nearly five years. During this time, women and girls have been denied basic rights, civil and political freedoms have been suppressed, and ordinary citizens have lived under fear and intimidation. The group has also supported foreign terrorist organizations, creating security threats for neighboring countries.
The Front argues that reducing international pressure on the Taliban, without any real change in their behavior, is deeply concerning. It warns that such decisions could send the wrong message, giving the impression that the Taliban’s repressive actions are being tolerated or even legitimized.
Calls for Inclusive Governance and International Support
The National Mobilization Front also highlighted that peace and stability in Afghanistan can only come through an inclusive political system. This system must respect the rights of all ethnic groups, women, youth, and citizens across the country. The Front urged the international community to support Afghan civil and political efforts instead of easing pressure on the Taliban.
Officials from the Front emphasized that the removal of sanctions ignores the harsh realities in Afghanistan. They said the Taliban’s ideology, political behavior, and practical actions have not changed. The Front called on the UN and global institutions to reconsider the decision and listen to the Afghan people.
In addition, the Front warned that the Taliban’s support for terrorist groups such as the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Baloch militants continues to threaten security in the region. The statement stressed that international actions must prioritize the safety and rights of ordinary Afghans rather than offering relief to a group still widely seen as oppressive.
The National Mobilization Front’s statement underscores growing concern among Afghans over international decisions that could affect their safety, freedoms, and political future. It calls for a measured approach that strengthens civil rights and promotes a genuinely inclusive political system while holding the Taliban accountable.
