Following the conclusion of important talks between Iran and the United States in Islamabad, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar thanked both countries and described Pakistan’s role as vital for regional peace. He stated that both sides responded positively to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s appeal for an immediate ceasefire and agreed to come to Islamabad for negotiations.
According to the official statement, the US delegation was led by Vice President JD Vance, while the Iranian delegation was headed by Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, both of whom arrived in Islamabad to participate in the talks. The Pakistani leadership facilitated several rounds of negotiations between the two sides over the past 24 hours.
According to Ishaq Dar, Pakistan played a mediating role in promoting constructive dialogue between the two countries, which led to progress toward a ceasefire. He stressed that both parties must maintain their commitment to the ceasefire to ensure lasting peace in the region.
The statement added that Pakistan will continue to support diplomatic engagement and dialogue between Iran and the United States and expressed hope for positive developments aimed at regional stability and prosperity.
According to analysts, the Islamabad talks have once again highlighted Pakistan as an important center of global diplomacy, from where progress on resolving major regional conflicts is being facilitated.
