Islamabad is seeing tight security arrangements as reports suggest possible US Iran talks may take place in the capital. Authorities have taken control of a major five star hotel, while public movement has also been restricted in parts of the city.
On Sunday, management of the Marriott Hotel asked guests to leave by 3 pm. The notice said the government had taken over the hotel for an important event and alternative arrangements were offered. Meanwhile, the Serena Hotel has also paused new bookings, which has added to speculation about upcoming diplomatic activity.
Transport Suspended and Security Tightened Across Twin Cities
At the same time, local administration in Islamabad and Rawalpindi has suspended public and goods transport until further notice. Citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel as security remains on high alert.
In addition, security has been strengthened around key sensitive areas, including roads near Nur Khan Airbase. Heavy deployment of police and security forces is in place to ensure safety and control movement.
Furthermore, these steps come amid growing international attention on possible negotiations between the United States and Iran. Earlier reports suggest the first round of talks was held in Islamabad on April 11, although no final agreement was reached.
Finally, speculation has increased after comments from US political figures hinting at deeper diplomatic engagement. However, officials have not confirmed any official meeting schedule, and preparations are described as precautionary measures.
