Pakistan and Tajikistan have agreed to improve trade routes and strengthen regional connectivity. The understanding came during a meeting between Pakistan’s Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan and Tajik Ambassador Sharifzoda Yusuf Toir in Islamabad.
During the talks, both sides discussed ways to improve trade flow and make transport systems more efficient. Pakistan shared its plan to build better logistics corridors that can connect Central Asian countries with Pakistani markets. The aim is to make trade faster, cheaper, and more reliable for both sides.
Energy and Industrial Cooperation Highlighted in Talks
In addition, Tajikistan showed interest in expanding cooperation in energy and industry. The Tajik ambassador highlighted opportunities to export extra electricity to Pakistan. He also pointed out potential trade in aluminium, which could benefit both economies.
Meanwhile, Pakistan stressed the importance of using multiple trade routes instead of relying on a single corridor. The minister said diversified routes are necessary for stable and long term trade. He also noted that cooperation with China remains an important part of regional connectivity plans.
Finally, both countries agreed to encourage closer business links. They supported the idea of holding a business to business forum to bring private companies together. They also reaffirmed their commitment to use platforms like the Joint Economic Commission to deepen cooperation in the future.
