May 2, 2026

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has strongly condemned the deliberate targeting of civilian populations by Afghan Taliban in border districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, describing the acts as inhumane and violent. He said attacks on innocent civilians reflect the brutal nature and disregard for human life shown by the Afghan side.

Human Tragedy in Bajaur

According to the Deputy Commissioner Bajaur, nine civilians have been martyred in the district as a result of unprovoked firing and shelling by Afghan Taliban and their India-backed affiliates referred to as “Fitna al-Khawarij.” The martyrs include six children and women, while 12 others were injured, including seven women and a young child. He further stated that three civilians playing cricket were also injured in a quadcopter attack today.

Cowardly Acts by Militants

Attaullah Tarar stated that after suffering comprehensive defeat on the battlefield at the hands of Pakistani forces, the enemy has lost the courage to face them directly and is now resorting to cowardly attacks on civilian areas. He rejected Afghan allegations that Pakistan targets civilians, saying Pakistan only targets terrorist hideouts and infrastructure with full evidence and takes extreme care to avoid civilian harm.

Struggle Between Truth and Falsehood

The minister concluded that Pakistan’s struggle against Fitna al-Khawarij and their supporters is based on truth, principles, and faith. He said this so-called struggle by these groups is driven by mischief, greed, and hypocrisy, and will ultimately end in disgrace and defeat.
