US President Donald Trump has announced a major operation titled Project Freedom aimed at resolving disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz and ensuring safe passage for stranded vessels.

In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump said the operation would begin on Monday and is designed to provide assistance to neutral countries whose commercial ships have been affected by ongoing regional tensions.

He described the initiative as a “humanitarian operation,” emphasizing that the United States would help vessels that have no involvement in the conflict and ensure their safe transit so global trade can continue without disruption.

According to Trump, several non-involved countries had requested assistance for the safe return and movement of their ships through the strategic waterway.

The Strait of Hormuz is considered one of the world’s most critical energy and trade routes. Analysts say the announcement could help ease tensions in global markets and improve stability in oil prices and international supply chains.

The operation is being presented by the United States as both an economic and humanitarian effort aimed at protecting freedom of navigation in international waters.
