Tehran/Washington: Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei confirmed during a routine press briefing in Tehran that Iran has submitted a detailed response to the latest United States proposal aimed at ending the ongoing conflict, with the communication formally conveyed to Washington through Pakistani mediation channels.
Baghaei stated that the exchange forms part of ongoing indirect negotiations between Tehran and Washington, with Pakistan continuing to act as the key intermediary facilitating communication between both sides. He said diplomatic engagement remains active despite significant differences over key issues.
In parallel developments reported by Iran’s Tasnim News Agency, the United States has agreed to a temporary waiver on Iranian oil sanctions as part of a newly drafted negotiation framework. The mechanism is described as an interim arrangement designed to ease economic pressure during active talks rather than a permanent settlement.
According to these reports, the waiver represents a shift from earlier US positions that linked any sanctions relief strictly to a final comprehensive agreement. The revised approach allows limited easing of oil export restrictions to maintain momentum in negotiations.
Iran, however, continues to demand the full lifting of sanctions, including restrictions on its oil sector and access to frozen assets abroad, alongside broader security guarantees.
The development comes amid a fragile ceasefire environment, with analysts warning that the diplomatic process remains reversible and highly sensitive. Pakistan’s role as mediator has become increasingly central in sustaining indirect communication between Washington and Tehran.
Neither side has confirmed a final agreement, and major disagreements remain unresolved.
