Attacks on Development Projects and Civilians Expose BLA’s Anti-Balochistan Agenda

The killing of passengers by deporting them from buses near Nushki, and the 30-hour hostage-taking of the Jafar Express are clear evidence that this campaign is not about freedom, but rather a conspiracy to darken the future of the innocent Baloch people.

BLA Attacks

By attacking the Gwadar Port Complex, power projects, roads and dam construction, the BLA and BLF are actually thwarting every effort to lift the Baloch people out of the mire of poverty.

Quetta: The Balochistan Liberation Army, which has long portrayed itself as a champion of Baloch rights, has in recent years emerged as a purely terrorist organization due to its violent tactics. The group’s targets have increasingly shifted away from state institutions toward innocent civilians, laborers, and development projects aimed at transforming the province’s future.

The cowardly killing of seven barbers from Punjab in Gwadar, the execution of passengers after they were taken off buses near Nushki, and the 30-hour hostage situation involving the Jaffer Express all stand as clear evidence that this campaign is not about liberation, but rather a conspiracy to darken the future of innocent Baloch citizens.

Nearly 70 percent of Balochistan’s population is affected by multidimensional poverty, largely driven by a lack of infrastructure and employment opportunities. In this context, attacks on projects such as the Gwadar Port Complex, power generation schemes, road networks, and dam construction projects reflect efforts by the BLA and BLF to undermine every attempt to lift local communities out of poverty.

The loss of more than 70 innocent lives in coordinated attacks in August 2024 and over 30 deaths in the November 2024 Quetta Railway Station suicide bombing further highlights their disconnect from any claim of representing Baloch welfare.

Reports indicate that these violent activities are linked to an external agenda aimed at destabilizing Pakistan and sabotaging the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The network associated with Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav and alleged treatment of BLA commanders in Indian hospitals is cited as evidence of this nexus.

Labeling this organization, designated as a terrorist group by the United States, United Kingdom, and European Union, as a “resistance movement” is seen as deeply insensitive to the victims. Analysts stress that the future of Balochistan lies not in violence and destruction, but in peace, political inclusion, and accelerated economic development.
