Kabul – 23 April 2025: Russia Taliban diplomatic ties grew stronger following a high-level meeting in Kabul on Wednesday between Russian envoy Zamir Kabulov and Taliban’s acting foreign minister Amir Khan Muttaqi. The Taliban announced that Russia had agreed to accredit their nominated ambassador to serve in Moscow.
This marks Kabulov’s third visit to Afghanistan since the Taliban took control in August 2021. He had previously visited Kabul in January 2023 and November 2024. Taliban sources stated that the nominated ambassador would soon be dispatched to Moscow.
