Reports from ESPNcricinfo suggest that the upcoming bilateral cricket series between Afghanistan national cricket team and Sri Lanka national cricket team may be postponed due to rising tensions in the Middle East.

The series, which was scheduled to take place in the United Arab Emirates from March 13 to March 25, had been planned as an important fixture in both teams’ international calendar. However, the current regional security situation has raised concerns about the feasibility of hosting the matches in the UAE.

According to the report, while the Afghanistan Cricket Board and Sri Lanka Cricket have not yet issued an official announcement, discussions between the two boards indicate that holding the series under the present circumstances may not be possible.

Sources cited by ESPNcricinfo say that both cricket boards have informally agreed that the series should not go ahead in the UAE while tensions in the region remain unresolved. As a result, officials are now considering either postponing the tour or exploring alternative arrangements if the situation does not improve.

A final decision is expected once both boards complete their internal consultations and assess the evolving regional conditions.
