Kabul – 01 May 2025: Afghanistan urges India-Pakistan dialogue, with Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi calling for peaceful resolutions and regional neutrality.

In an interview broadcast by Al Jazeera, Muttaqi emphasized that Afghanistan will not become a battlefield for rival powers. He reiterated the Islamic Emirate’s commitment to peace, condemning all violent incidents in both Pakistan and India.

“The policy of the Islamic Emirate is clear,” Muttaqi stated. “We condemn violence, express condolences to both sides, and support dialogue for resolving issues.”

He stressed that Afghanistan remains neutral in regional disputes and encourages countries to engage in positive competition through trade and diplomacy. According to Muttaqi, the Islamic Emirate follows a balanced and independent policy that harms no one and promotes cooperation.

Addressing tensions in South Asia, Muttaqi said Afghanistan believes in peaceful coexistence and seeks strong relations based on mutual respect. He underscored that the nation’s foreign policy aims to foster stability and avoid entanglement in conflicts between neighboring states.

Regarding the recent visit of a U.S. delegation to Kabul about a month ago, Muttaqi described it as the beginning of a new chapter in U.S.-Afghanistan relations. He expressed optimism that ties between the two countries would expand over time.

Muttaqi also urged the international community to lift what he called “cruel” economic sanctions imposed on Afghanistan. He stated that these restrictions have severely impacted ordinary Afghans and must be removed to ensure economic recovery.

This statement from the acting foreign minister reaffirms Afghanistan’s efforts to rebuild global trust while avoiding involvement in regional tensions.
