The Balochistan government has announced a major youth empowerment initiative under which more than 30,000 young people will be provided overseas employment opportunities along with skills training and career support to help them secure respectable jobs at home and abroad.

The announcement was made by Adviser to the Chief Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Meena Majid Baloch, while addressing the opening ceremony of a three-day policy dialogue on Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) in Quetta organized by the Balochistan Home Department.

Senior officials, including DIG CTD Aitzaz Ahmed Goraya and other representatives from relevant institutions were also present.

Meena Majid Baloch said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, the provincial government is implementing a comprehensive youth policy focused on the social and economic empowerment of young people.

She said the aim is to equip youth with professional skills and protect them from misinformation and negative propaganda by promoting awareness, critical thinking and positive activities.

She added that youth empowerment is not only about employment but also about building confidence, direction and resilience among the younger generation.

Youth resource centers, digital skills and sports activities

The adviser said that Youth Resource Centers have been established across the province to provide career counselling and professional guidance. In addition, the government is offering digital skills training and laptops so that young people can access online employment opportunities from their homes.

She also highlighted the importance of healthy activities, saying the government is organizing football and cricket tournaments across Balochistan to engage youth in positive and constructive pursuits.

Talking about education, she said that previously inactive or “ghost schools” have been restored so that children in Balochistan can have access to education. She stressed that education is the foundation for eliminating extremism and ensuring long-term social stability.

Speakers at the event, including DIG CTD and other experts, praised the government’s efforts and said that youth engagement, dialogue and socio-economic development are key tools in countering violent extremism and ensuring peace and stability in the province.

35,000 youth already benefited under provincial youth policy

In a separate statement to APP earlier this month, Meena Majid Baloch said the Balochistan Youth Policy is already delivering results with more than 35,000 young people benefiting from various initiatives under the Balochistan Youth Socio-Economic Development Program.

She said the program is helping youth acquire modern skills needed for today’s job market and move towards economic self-reliance. She added that the Balochistan Youth Resource Centers have become an important milestone in guiding, training and improving the capacity of young people.

The adviser reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continue investing in youth, saying that the future of Balochistan and the country depends on empowering the younger generation.
