Islamabad_ Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has warned that continued global indifference toward the IIOJK dispute could put regional peace and stability at risk. Speaking at a high-level conference, Dar emphasized that Pakistan supports peaceful, diplomatic resolutions to the ongoing conflicts in South Asia.
He highlighted that escalating tensions in Illegally Indian-administered Kashmir are a serious concern for global security. Dar noted that South Asia faces multiple challenges, including poverty, illiteracy, climate change, food insecurity, and frequent natural disasters, all of which require regional cooperation.
The Deputy Prime Minister stressed that the climate crisis in the region is intensifying, with rising temperatures, floods, and other natural disasters impacting economies and worsening national security.
Referring to Pakistan–India tensions, Dar recalled periods when both nuclear-armed neighbors were pushed to the brink of conflict. He condemned India’s unilateral suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty as “extremely dangerous and irresponsible,” warning that it undermines frameworks critical for regional stability.
Dar further emphasized that South Asia, one of the world’s most densely populated regions, shares a collective responsibility to pursue sustainable development, cooperation, and regional connectivity. According to him, trust, collaboration, and diplomacy remain the only means to ensure long-term prosperity for the region.
