Islamabad – On the instructions of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur, relief goods consisting of 35 trucks have been dispatched through Torkham for the families affected by the earthquake in Afghanistan. This assistance has been provided in the spirit of solidarity with the people of the brotherly country of Afghanistan and to support them in their difficult time.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister’s Special Assistant, Nek Muhammad Khan, and the Chief Secretary handed over the relief goods to the Afghan authorities. The Afghan Consul General expressed gratitude to the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, stating that this initiative is a bright example of friendship and brotherhood between the people of both countries.
Senior Officials Attend Handover Ceremony
On the occasion, the Chief Minister’s Special Assistant for Relief, Nek Muhammad Khan, Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shahab Ali Shah, Secretary Relief Yousaf Rahim, Director General PDMA Asfandyar Khattak, and other senior officials were present. The Afghan Consul General Hafiz Mohibullah Shakir was welcomed upon his arrival at the PDMA Headquarters.
Relief Supplies Include Medicines and Shelter Items
During the ceremony, in the presence of Afghan Consul General Hafiz Mohibullah Shakir, the relief consignment consisting of 35 trucks was handed over to the Afghan authorities, which also included two trucks of medicines. The relief goods included 500 winterized tents, 500 family-size tents, 1,000 tarpaulins, 1,500 mattresses, 3,000 pillows, 1,500 quilts, and 500 blankets.
This aid has been provided to fulfill the immediate needs of earthquake-affected families and to protect them from harsh weather conditions. During the ceremony, provincial officials expressed heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the earthquake in Afghanistan and prayed for the affected community. The Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said that the provincial government stands with its Afghan brothers in this difficult time and that the series of relief, cooperation, and assistance from the government will continue until the rehabilitation of the affected families.
Afghan Consul General Lauds Pakistan’s Support
Afghan Consul General Mohibullah Shakir appreciated the efforts of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, saying that this aid reflects the strengthening of the bond of goodwill and brotherhood between the two brotherly countries. He expressed gratitude to the people and government of Pakistan and termed it a valuable initiative.
In the recent earthquake in Kunar province of Afghanistan, around 800 people have lost their lives and more than 2,500 have been injured, while thousands of houses have collapsed. As a result, the affected families have been forced to live under the open sky, and the timely aid provided by Pakistan will prove to be a valuable support for them.
