KHOST, Afghanistan — During a school graduation ceremony in Khost province, a map was displayed that incorrectly depicted parts of Pakistan territory as belonging to Afghanistan. The event, attended by local Taliban officials, drew attention to the controversial portrayal of international borders.

Officials in Pakistan have emphasized the importance of respecting internationally recognized borders and maintaining good neighborly relations. So far, the Pakistani government has not issued an official public response but continues to monitor such incidents closely.

The incident follows a previous occasion in which a map labeled “Greater Afghanistan” was presented to the Taliban’s deputy interior minister in Khost, again inaccurately representing Pakistan’s sovereign territory.

Pakistan’s Sovereignty Should Be Respected

Diplomatic sources stress that Pakistan’s borders are internationally recognized and must not be misrepresented in educational or public events. Mislabeling of maps undermines regional stability and good relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Calls for Accurate Educational Materials

Experts and analysts highlight the need for accurate geographical education in schools and official ceremonies to prevent misunderstandings. Accurate maps not only reflect facts but also support peaceful and constructive relations with neighboring countries like Pakistan.
