Beijing: In a significant diplomatic move, Pakistan and China have jointly proposed a five-point peace plan aimed at easing rising tensions in the Gulf and the Middle East. The plan emphasizes an immediate ceasefire, dialogue, and the protection of civilians.

The announcement came after a high-level meeting between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar in Beijing. According to the joint statement, both countries stressed the urgent need to stop further conflict so that humanitarian aid can reach affected areas.

Ceasefire and Diplomacy as the Path to Peace

The first point of the plan calls for an immediate ceasefire. “It is crucial to prevent the situation from worsening and to ensure help reaches people in need,” the statement said.

The second point focuses on resolving issues through dialogue and diplomacy. Both countries highlighted that all parties, including Iran and Gulf states, must respect each other’s sovereignty and come to the negotiating table. Experts say this approach is essential to avoid prolonged conflict and instability in the region.

Additionally, the plan emphasizes protecting civilians and critical infrastructure. It calls for full adherence to international humanitarian laws, with a special focus on safeguarding energy centers and nuclear facilities.

Protecting Trade Routes and Strengthening Global Systems

The fourth point stresses the importance of securing key maritime routes, especially the Strait of Hormuz. This ensures global shipping and trade are not disrupted, avoiding further strain on the international supply chain.

The final point underlines the role of the United Nations and the multilateral system. Both countries urged full compliance with the UN Charter, emphasizing that sustainable peace requires international cooperation and a strong UN-led framework.

The Foreign Office of Pakistan described the joint plan as a major step toward reducing regional tensions and promoting stability. “This initiative reflects our shared commitment to peace and security in the Gulf and the wider region,” officials said.

Analysts note that the collaboration between Pakistan and China represents a strategic diplomatic effort to prevent escalation, protect global trade, and support humanitarian relief in the affected areas.
