Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has announced a major diplomatic breakthrough, confirming the safe return of 11 Pakistani citizens from a vessel previously taken into US custody. Pakistan also secured the release of 20 Iranian nationals in the same operation.
Singapore played a key role in facilitating travel and logistics, with all 31 individuals now en route to their respective countries. Under the planned route, the group travelled via Singapore to Bangkok, Thailand, where Pakistani passengers have boarded a flight to Islamabad.
Ishaq Dar thanked the Prime Ministers and Foreign Ministers of Singapore, as well as US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, for their cooperation in ensuring the swift resolution of the matter. He also acknowledged Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi for close coordination throughout the process, adding that arrangements for the Iranian nationals’ return to Tehran are being prioritized.
