Islamabad: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has said that Pakistan’s global standing has improved significantly after last year’s “Battle of Truth.” He said the event not only strengthened national confidence but also raised Pakistan’s reputation internationally.
Speaking on a television program, he said the conflict played an important role in maintaining balance in regional power dynamics. He added that Pakistan is now being seen more positively by the world compared to India.
In addition, he said that the global community now views Pakistan as a reliable and honest partner in discussions. According to him, Pakistan’s diplomatic importance has increased, especially during tensions in the Gulf region where its role was considered meaningful.
Regional Politics, China’s Role, and Relations with Neighbours
Furthermore, Khawaja Asif said that India is aware of the changing international perception, even if it does not publicly admit it. He suggested that global attitudes toward Pakistan are shifting in a positive direction.
On regional affairs, he accused Afghanistan of acting in alignment with external influence, which he described as hostile to Pakistan’s interests. However, he noted that China’s growing economic presence in the region could help facilitate dialogue between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Moreover, the defence minister highlighted Pakistan’s long-standing relations with Iran. He said that recent diplomatic progress could open new opportunities in trade and energy cooperation, including potential gas pipeline projects. He also mentioned that improved border security may follow these developments.
Finally, he said that while some regional actors do not support peace in the Gulf, there is a genuine desire for stability from key players such as Iran and the United States, which he described as a positive sign for the future of the region.
