Amid rising concerns over terrorism linked to the Afghan border, police in Peshawar have intensified search and strike operations across the city and surrounding areas.
A police report released this week detailed the scale of operations carried out during 2025 to counter security threats and criminal activity.
According to official documents, a total of 1,016 search and strike operations were conducted during the year. These operations led to the detention of 731 individuals for questioning and further investigation.
Police also recovered 846 weapons and more than 14,000 rounds of ammunition, reflecting ongoing efforts to curb the spread of illegal arms in the provincial capital.
Crackdown on drugs and rental law violations
The report also highlighted major action against narcotics. During anti-drug operations, police arrested 524 suspects involved in drug-related crimes.
Authorities seized 90 kilograms of hashish, 91 kilograms of crystal meth (ice), and nearly 3 kilograms of heroin.
In addition, 95 bottles of alcohol were confiscated during crackdowns on drug dens operating in different parts of the city.
Alongside security and narcotics operations, police enforced rental laws to improve monitoring and prevent misuse of residential properties.
As a result, 1,596 people were arrested for violating tenancy regulations, including failure to register tenants with local authorities.
Police officials said these operations were aimed at preventing terrorist infiltration, dismantling criminal networks, and improving overall law and order.
They stressed that intelligence-based actions would continue across the province to address security risks linked to cross-border militancy and local crime.
Authorities urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement and comply with rental and security regulations to help maintain peace and stability in the region.
