Islamabad, June 10, 2025 — Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, addressing a pivotal federal cabinet meeting in Islamabad on Tuesday, began by extending heartfelt Eid greetings to the nation and congratulating Pakistani pilgrims embarking on the sacred Hajj journey.

International Affairs: A Plea for Global Justice

Turning to global developments, the Prime Minister expressed deep concern over Israel’s continued aggression in Palestine, condemning it as “the worst injustice of our time.” He urged the international community to take immediate and decisive action for a ceasefire in Gaza. Furthermore, he reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for both the Palestinian and Kashmiri peoples, expressing optimism that their long-standing struggles for freedom would ultimately prevail.

Pushing Forward: A National Commitment to Economic Growth

Shifting his focus to domestic matters, the Prime Minister praised the salaried class for their enduring contributions, acknowledging their vital role in stabilizing the country’s economy. He highlighted recent economic progress, asserting that the nation had reached a “takeoff stage” as a result of consistent hard work and strategic planning.

Moreover, elaborating on the newly proposed budget, he emphasized that it prioritizes inclusive economic growth and demonstrates the government’s determination to uplift the nation. Importantly, he drew historical parallels, noting that economically strong nations have always overcome adversity. Just as Pakistan triumphed in conventional warfare, he argued, the country can also conquer economic challenges through unity and determination. “We must keep pushing forward collectively, with resolve and discipline,” he asserted.

Water Security and National Sovereignty

In addition to economic priorities, the Prime Minister addressed pressing regional concerns, particularly related to water security. Taking a firm stance, he declared that Pakistan would never compromise on the Indus Waters Treaty. While emphasizing the urgency of the issue, he reassured both the cabinet and the public that the government would safeguard “every single drop” of its rightful share. He warned that any attempts by India to weaponize water would be met with firm resistance, declaring, “Pakistan will not allow water to become a tool of coercion.”

A Call for Unity and Tireless Effort

In conclusion, the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the need for national unity and effective governance. He commended the Ministry of Finance and other departments for their commendable efforts in preparing the budget. Underscoring the historic significance of the current moment, he stated, “This moment comes once in a century. We cannot afford to let it slip away.” He concluded with a passionate appeal to the nation, urging all Pakistanis to work tirelessly, day and night, to accelerate economic progress and secure Pakistan’s rightful place on the global stage.
