Pakistan’s security forces have achieved another major success under the ongoing counterterrorism campaign Operation Azm-e-Istehkam by eliminating a key and highly wanted Afghan commander of Fitna al Khawarij, identified as Khariji Basir, while one of his Afghan associates was arrested alive during the operation.

According to security sources, the successful intelligence-based operation was carried out in the Arjam Killi area of Sara Naan. Acting on intelligence inputs, security forces tracked Fitna al Khawarij commander Khariji Basir in the Shaban area and neutralized him through a carefully planned operation.

The slain militant, Khariji Basir, was the son of Afghan militant commander Noorullah and was described as a key planner behind multiple terrorist attacks targeting Pakistan’s security forces.

Sources further revealed that Basir also served as the operational commander of a militant network attempting cross-border infiltration in the Shaban area. He was additionally responsible for supervising the group of five suicide bombers belonging to Fitna al Khawarij who were killed by security forces in Pishin on February 22 earlier this year.

Security officials described the operation as a major breakthrough against terrorist networks and reaffirmed that operations against Fitna al Khawarij and Fitna al Hindustan would continue until their complete elimination.
