Upper Orakzai- June 18, 2025: A terror attack on Wednesday claimed the life of a police officer in Upper Orakzai. According to police sources, a group of terrorists opened fire on the Gandi Tal Police Post in Orakzai district. The attack resulted in the martyrdom of constable Tajdar Ali.

Soon after the incident, a heavy contingent of police rushed to the spot. Security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to trace the attackers. Authorities later shifted the body of the martyred policeman to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ).

The attack has raised serious concerns over the security situation in the tribal belt. This is not the first such incident in the region, which has seen a spike in militant activity in recent months.

Second Attack This Month

Notably, this is the second terror attack targeting police in Upper Orakzai this month. On June 14, 2025, militants struck a police post in the Ghiljo Police Station area. That assault also resulted in the martyrdom of a police officer. In both cases, the attackers fled the scene, prompting immediate search operations.

Police stated that their personnel fought back bravely during both encounters. Reinforcements from the police and Frontier Corps (FC) also reached the locations and took part in the follow-up operations.

Officials believe these attacks are part of a renewed wave of militancy targeting law enforcement in tribal districts. Intelligence-based operations are now being intensified in Orakzai and surrounding areas.

Security Under Strain

The recent attacks have exposed the persistent threat to peace in the region. Despite multiple operations in the past, militants continue to regroup and strike security forces. Locals have also voiced concern over the growing insecurity.

Authorities have vowed to bring the attackers to justice and strengthen security around vulnerable police outposts. Additional forces have been deployed in sensitive zones across Orakzai.

As the region grapples with this renewed threat, the loss of brave officers like Tajdar Ali underscores the cost of defending the nation. The terror attack not only claimed a life but also served as a grim reminder of the dangers still lurking in the shadows.
