President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday met Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa in Manama, where the two leaders discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in trade, investment and defence, along with regional and global developments.
The president, accompanied by First Lady Aseefa Bhutto-Zardari, is in Bahrain on a four-day state visit.
According to a post on the Presidency’s X account, President Zardari was given a guard of honor on arrival at the royal residence, Al-Qudaibiya Palace, where the meeting took place.
The talks also covered support for the Pakistani community in Bahrain and broader political issues. During the meeting, King Hamad conferred the Sheikh Isa Award on President Zardari.

The Foreign Office said President Zardari is also scheduled to meet Bahrain’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
These discussions will focus on bilateral ties and matters of mutual regional and international interest.
The visit aims to deepen Pakistan’s long-standing relations with Bahrain and expand cooperation in trade, economic partnership, defence, security and people-to-people contacts. President Zardari is also expected to address a reception at Bahrain’s Economic Development Board.
Earlier, he met Bahrain’s National Guard commander, continuing high-level engagement between the two countries.
