Rawalpindi – Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif, in an interview with a German magazine earlier this month, said that Indian military officers have been involved in terrorist activities inside Pakistan and that Islamabad possesses multiple credible pieces of evidence in this regard.

According to details, the DG ISPR spoke extensively on regional instability, the repatriation of Afghan nationals, and other pressing issues during his conversation with the German publication.

Indian Military and Extremist Ideology

In the interview that was conducted on September 5, Lieutenant General Chaudhry stated that violent incidents in India were the outcome of the government’s extremist policies, adding that state institutions, particularly the Indian military, were influenced by extremist ideologies.

He stressed that Indian military officers have been directly involved in terrorist activities in Pakistan, for which Pakistan has repeatedly presented credible evidence before the international community.

On the Kashmir dispute, the DG ISPR noted that the issue was becoming increasingly protracted and urged the global community to play a responsible role in resolving it.

Afghan Nationals’ Involvement in Terrorism

Discussing the repatriation of Afghan refugees, General Sharif said Pakistan had hosted millions of Afghans for four decades and taken systematic steps for their return. He added that Pakistan, keeping humanitarian and international norms in mind, had repeatedly extended deadlines for their repatriation. However, credible evidence existed of illegal Afghan residents’ involvement in terrorism and other serious crimes.

“Afghan nationals were granted refuge in Pakistan due to foreign interventions and war, but those reasons no longer exist,” he remarked.

No Space for Armed Groups in Pakistan

The DG ISPR reiterated that the Pakistani state categorically rejects non-state actors. “There is no room in Pakistan for any militia or armed group, and the authority to declare jihad rests solely with the state,” he said, adding that Pakistan had been at the forefront of the fight against terrorism and had made every sacrifice in this struggle.

US Weapons Fueling Terrorism in Afghanistan

General Sharif also raised concern over the use of US-supplied weapons left behind in Afghanistan by militants, noting that Washington itself had repeatedly expressed concern over this issue.

On Pakistan-China ties, he said relations between the two countries are exceptionally close and have spanned several decades.

Situation in Balochistan

Commenting on Balochistan, the DG ISPR said that many of the terrorists killed in the province were later found to have been listed among so-called “missing persons.”

Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif’s comments reinforced Pakistan’s long-held position that it has borne the brunt of terrorism for decades while continuing to host millions of Afghan refugees. He stressed that Pakistan will not tolerate armed militias or cross-border terrorism, and officials say Islamabad will continue to expose what it views as Indian and Afghan complicity, reaffirming that lasting regional peace is only possible through respect for Pakistan’s sacrifices and security concerns.
