Islamabad— Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Asim Munir, has said that those who shed the blood of innocent children have no link to Islam.
He made these remarks while addressing the National Ulama and Mashaykh Conference in Islamabad, attended by scholars from all schools of thought across the country.
He said Pakistan can overcome its challenges only through unity, discipline, and the strength of knowledge and thought.
National Unity and Pakistan’s Security Stance
Field Marshal Munir discussed terrorism, national security, the regional situation, Pakistan’s growing international role, and defence preparedness.
He said Pakistan is a responsible state that desires peace but will never compromise its security.
Quoting verses from the Quran and poetry, he said Allah has honoured Pakistan with the responsibility of protecting the two holy mosques.
He drew a parallel between Pakistan and the State of Madinah, noting that both were founded on the Kalima Tayyaba in the month of Ramadan. He said Pakistan has been designated as the guardian of the Haramain.
He highlighted Operation Bunyan al-Marsoos, saying Allah’s assistance was clearly witnessed during the operation, and success came from discipline, faith, and the right leadership.
Call for Ulama to Promote Unity and Moderation
Field Marshal Munir said only the state has the authority to declare jihad or issue fatwas, and any form of non-state violence goes against Islamic teachings and harms the Ummah.
On Afghanistan, he said the Afghan Taliban were supporting terrorism targeting Pakistani citizens, adding that 70 percent of Khawarij elements coming from Afghanistan are Afghan nationals.
He said Afghanistan must choose between the Fitna Al Khawarij and Pakistan.
He warned that nations decline when they abandon knowledge. He urged the ulama to play their role in promoting awareness, unity, and moderation.
