Dhaka: On the third day of the ongoing Dhaka Test against Bangladesh, young Pakistani batter Azan Owais made a memorable debut by scoring a superb century. His performance marked a strong entry into international cricket.
With this innings, Azan Owais became the 14th Pakistani player to score a century on Test debut. He played a responsible knock of 103 runs off 153 balls, hitting 14 boundaries. His innings showed patience, control, and confidence at the top level.
Solid opening partnership sets the platform
To begin with, Pakistan resumed their first innings at 179 for 1. Overnight batters Azan Owais and Abdullah Fazal continued their partnership and added valuable runs for the team.
Azan reached his century in the first session but was dismissed shortly after. Meanwhile, Abdullah Fazal also impressed in his debut Test, scoring 60 runs off 102 balls, including a well-made half century.
Quick wickets halt Pakistan’s momentum
After the strong start, Pakistan’s batting lineup struggled. Captain Shan Masood was dismissed for just 9 runs. Saud Shakeel also failed to score and returned to the pavilion without opening his account.
As a result, Pakistan lost five wickets at 230 runs and remained behind Bangladesh’s first innings total.
Earlier, Bangladesh scored 413 runs in their first innings. Najmul Hossain Shanto made 101, Mominul Haque scored 91, and Mushfiqur Rahim added 71 runs.
On the bowling side, Mohammad Abbas took five wickets for Pakistan. Shaheen Shah Afridi claimed three wickets, while Nauman Ali and Hasan Ali took one wicket each.
