Peshawar: Security forces carried out a successful intelligence based operation in Khyber district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and killed a dangerous terrorist linked to Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. The militant, identified as Waiz Ahmad alias Mukhlis, was killed along with several of his associates during the operation.

The operation took place on April 23. According to security sources, Waiz Ahmad son of Ghulam Muhammad was an Afghan national. He belonged to the village of Bombay in Chak district of Afghanistan’s Wardak province.

Officials said the militant was wanted for involvement in several attacks on Pakistani security forces and innocent civilians. His killing is being described as a major blow to the TTP network operating in the region.

During the operation, security forces used modern technology and intelligence information to track the militants. As a result, the group was eliminated at its hideout before it could carry out further attacks.

The successful operation once again showed the readiness of Pakistani forces to defend the country and continue efforts against terrorism.

Condolence Gathering in Afghanistan Raises Fresh Concerns

Meanwhile, another development linked to the case has raised serious concerns. After the death of the militant, a formal condolence gathering was reportedly held in his hometown mosque in Afghanistan on May 9 and 10.

According to reports, the gathering included prayers and condolences for the slain commander. This event has once again highlighted the alleged links between TTP militants and support networks across the border.

Officials say the gathering challenges repeated claims that Afghan soil is not being used against Pakistan. They argue that such public events for militants raise questions for the international community about the continued presence and support of extremist groups in the region.

Following the incident, senior Pakistani officials repeated their position that cross border terrorism and infiltration would not be tolerated. Pakistan has repeatedly urged the Afghan interim government to take practical steps to stop militants from using Afghan territory as a safe haven.

The latest success in Khyber district is being viewed as part of Pakistan’s wider effort to restore peace and continue operations against militant groups threatening national security.
