Indian media reports alleging a Lebanese militant’s entry into Kashmir via Pakistan face criticism

May 17, 2026

Srinagar: A bizarre and questionable claim circulated by Indian media in occupied Jammu and Kashmir alleges cross-border infiltration involving a Lebanese militant entering the region via Pakistan. According to these reports, a man named “Bazi” from southern Lebanon’s Al-Maashuq area has reportedly entered Kashmir and is allegedly operating in the Poonch region with a small group linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba.

Security analysts have dismissed the narrative as another “Jollywood-style” fabricated story. They argue that after earlier fictional claims about “secret Pakistani camps” failed to gain traction, new elements such as a “Lebanese angle” have been added to keep the narrative alive, despite its questionable credibility.

Observers also point out the contradiction in India’s security claims, noting that while official statements describe the Line of Control as heavily fortified with advanced surveillance systems where even birds cannot cross, such stories still emerge suggesting individuals manage to bypass multiple layers of security with ease. According to analysts, the latest search operations in Poonch are part of this broader narrative-building effort rather than verified ground realities.
