PESHAWAR – April 16, 2025: Afghan Consul General Hafiz Muhibullah said that the Afghan government is fully prepared to facilitate the Afghan refugees returning from Pakistan. Speaking to the media, he stated that Kabul is actively working to ensure a smooth and dignified repatriation process.
Muhibullah confirmed the establishment of a dedicated commission in Afghanistan to oversee the return of Afghan refugees. He said special camps have been set up. Transportation services are being provided to returning individuals and families.
“No Afghan will face any hardship while returning,” he assured. “We want to make this transition as smooth as possible.”
He said that the return of Afghans is welcomed by the country’s leadership. He added, Our Ameer-ul-Momineen is pleased that Afghan nationals are coming back to rebuild their homeland.”
Muhibullah acknowledged that Afghan citizens have spent more than four decades in Pakistan, where they found opportunities in education and business. “They earned a halal livelihood and faced no serious problems during their time in Pakistan,” he said, expressing gratitude toward the host country.
Now, he said, the situation in Afghanistan has changed significantly. “There is no longer any occupation. The governments of Russia and the United States are no longer in control. The country is free and ready to be rebuilt.”
He emphasized the need for national reconstruction, saying, “It is our duty to work towards the prosperity of Afghanistan.”
This statement comes at a time when Pakistan has resumed the second phase of its undocumented Afghan repatriation drive. While Kabul has previously expressed reservations, the Afghan Consul General’s remarks indicate growing alignment between the two countries on the refugee issue.
