Balochistan — Following recent terrorist incidents in Balochistan, international media network Al Jazeera has faced severe criticism for repeatedly referring to the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) as a “separatist” group. Analysts emphasize that BLA is not a political movement but a designated terrorist organization recognized by Pakistan, the United States, and the United Kingdom.

Experts note that separatism implies political mobilization and dialogue, whereas acts such as suicide attacks on civilians, laborers, and destruction of infrastructure fall squarely under terrorism. They argue that no international law or humanitarian standard classifies such acts as a political struggle.

Critics further argue that institutions like Al Jazeera claim to advocate for Muslim rights globally while simultaneously portraying terrorism in Balochistan sympathetically, creating a contradiction that undermines journalistic credibility. Presenting a proscribed terrorist group as “innocent” or a “political actor” is not journalism but a distortion of facts, as repeated propaganda cannot erase the label of terrorism.
