Investigations into the recent deadly terrorist attack at Damanagi camp in Bajaur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have revealed a major development, with authorities confirming that the suicide bomber involved in the assault was an Afghan national.

According to a report released by Mahaz, the suicide attacker has been identified as Jalaluddin alias Sajad, who carried out the attack on Damanagi camp. Investigators confirmed that the bomber was a citizen of Afghanistan and belonged to the Nerkh district of Wardak province, specifically the village of Dadal.

Media reports further state that following the identification of Jalaluddin, a symbolic funeral prayer (ghaibana namaz-e-janaza) and a condolence gathering were held in his native village in Afghanistan. The development has further reinforced confirmation of his identity and cross-border links in the attack.

The report also claims that all other militants killed during the security forces’ retaliatory operation at the Bajaur camp were also Afghan nationals. Authorities say evidence recovered from the site and links within the network indicate cross-border involvement originating from Afghanistan.

Security officials have expanded the scope of the investigation as intelligence inputs suggest a wider transnational network operating across the Pakistan-Afghanistan border region.

Authorities have stated that further detailed findings related to the network and its facilitators will be shared with the media in due course, as counter-terrorism operations continue in the area.
