Quetta – In a move to protect the lives of travelers and workers, Pakistan Railways has officially halted all operations across Balochistan.

This train service suspension notice has been provided following serious security warnings in the area on Thursday.

Although the move has been very disruptive to both households and companies, the authorities have pointed out that the lives of all the individuals on board are more valuable than timetables.

The department hopes to avoid any tragic accidents on the tracks by halting the engines at this point.

Impact on Major Travel Routes

The abrupt shutdown has impacted a number of essential links linking Quetta to the rest of the nation.

The passengers who had booked to travel either the Jaffar Express to Peshawar or, Bolan Mail to Karachi, were left stranded with stations becoming silent.

The local train to Chaman has even been pulled off the tracks.

Most of the individuals in the stations were frustrated, but overall, it is noted that a train service suspension scenario is not so bad as compared to the dangers of the mountainous Bolan Valley, where travelling has become very risky.

A History of Recent Threats

The move to shut down operations was not sudden. Armed groups have been attacking the Jaffar Express, especially at the Bolan Pass region.

During the past two months alone, the train has just narrowly avoided a half-dozen attacks on the Quetta-Sibi line.

The community is still grieving over the loss of 25 lives that occurred as a result of the terrible hijacking incident in March.

Due to these recurring threats, the existing order of train service suspension is viewed by many as a necessary cover against more violence.

Looking Toward Restoring Travel

Governments are collaborating with security agencies to keep a closer eye on the situation, and when they can have the confidence to start travelling.

Travelers are also being encouraged to remain in touch with the official call centers and local channels on current developments.

The aim is to re-establish the tracks when the environment becomes stable.

At the moment, the train service suspensionstatus is still in place as a reminder that the life of a person is the most important thing. The officials at the railways have assured that once the all-clear is signaled, the whistles will once again blow with an aim of linking Balochistan to the rest of the nation.
