Pakistan has revealed its willingness to play a mediating role in the ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran. Speaking at a press conference, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said Islamabad was seriously considered as a potential venue for dialogue between Washington and Tehran after the first phase of last year’s US–Iran tensions.

“We are ready to provide all kinds of support. If both sides want talks in Islamabad, we are prepared. We are willing at any time to facilitate mediation of any kind,” he added. According to the minister, both the United States and Iran viewed Pakistan as a credible option for dialogue during the initial stage of the conflict.

Defense Agreement With Saudi Arabia and Shuttle Diplomacy

Foreign minister also highlighted Pakistan’s defense agreement with Saudi Arabia and said that the Iranian leadership was formally informed about it. He noted that Iran sought assurance that Saudi territory would not be used for any military action.

Ishaq Dar explained that Pakistan acted as a “shuttle communicator” between the two sides. He added that diplomatic efforts had helped reduce tensions, noting that recent attacks by Iran against Saudi Arabia and Oman were fewer compared to previous incidents. This, he said, reflects the positive impact of Pakistan’s mediation and diplomacy.

Islamabad’s Constructive Diplomatic Role

According to the foreign minister, Pakistan continues to play an active role in reducing regional tensions and promoting dialogue. He emphasized that Islamabad is committed to stability in the region and supports resolving conflicts through peaceful and diplomatic means.

Analysts say the statements come at a time when the regional balance of power and diplomatic alignments are being closely observed. Pakistan’s mediation offer, along with clear communication about its defense agreements, reflects a balanced and pragmatic approach.

The foreign minister made it clear that Pakistan does not support any one party over another. Instead, its goal is to promote peace and stability in the region. He added that if any formal negotiation process begins, Pakistan is prepared to play a constructive and supportive role in facilitating dialogue between the parties.
