China reaffirms support for Pakistan as regional tensions escalate following the April 22 Pahalgam attack in Indian-occupied Kashmir that killed 26 people. Most victims were tourists, making it one of the deadliest assaults in the area since 2000. India has implied cross-border involvement without solid evidence. Pakistan has denied the allegations and called for a neutral probe.

On Monday, Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong met President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-i-Sadr to discuss the situation. The ambassador stressed the strong bond between the two nations, calling them “ironclad brothers.” He reiterated China’s backing of Pakistan’s peace efforts.

Zardari raised concerns over what he described as “irresponsible and aggressive rhetoric” from India. He said such remarks threaten regional peace. The leaders also talked about expanding diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif earlier thanked the Chinese envoy for supporting Pakistan’s call for an impartial investigation. China also urged both countries to show restraint following reports of fire exchange at the Line of Control.

Amid rising tensions, Pakistan is reinforcing its military defenses. India’s government has reportedly given its military “operational freedom” to respond. The situation remains volatile.

Islamabad is now moving to brief the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has directed Ambassador Asim Iftikhar to initiate a UNSC session immediately. Pakistan aims to inform the international community about the ground realities and India’s aggressive posture.

The suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty by India will also be raised at the UNSC. Pakistan maintains that it seeks peace but will respond swiftly to any threats.

The reaffirmation from Beijing comes as a diplomatic boost for Islamabad during a tense period. With ongoing military readiness on both sides, international pressure for calm is growing.

As the region braces for uncertainty, China reaffirms support for Pakistan in its bid to ensure peace and stability in South Asia.
