Chinese Premier Li Qiang met with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon in Beijing, where the two leaders held extensive discussions on expanding economic cooperation, strengthening strategic ties, and increasing coordination on regional development initiatives.

During the meeting, Li Qiang reaffirmed China’s readiness to work closely with Tajikistan to steadily expand bilateral trade and improve both the quality and efficiency of investment cooperation between the two countries. He emphasized that Beijing is prepared to deepen collaboration in several important sectors, including mineral resources, green industries, digital economy, infrastructure development, and industrial modernization.

Chinese officials said the growing partnership reflects the increasing strategic importance of relations between Beijing and Dushanbe, particularly as China continues to strengthen its economic influence and connectivity projects across Central Asia.

Li Qiang also stated that China is willing to import more high-quality products from Tajikistan and encourage Chinese companies to increase investments in the country. According to officials, both governments discussed creating more favorable conditions for trade, cross-border investment, transportation, and economic integration.

Focus on Green Energy and Modern Technology

The talks additionally focused on cooperation in emerging sectors such as clean energy, artificial intelligence, digital connectivity, advanced technology, and sustainable development. Both sides stressed the importance of innovation and regional coordination to support long-term economic growth and modernization efforts.

Analysts say China’s increasing engagement with Tajikistan is part of Beijing’s broader strategy to strengthen political and economic partnerships in Central Asia through infrastructure investment and regional connectivity initiatives linked to the Belt and Road framework.

Rahmon Calls China a Reliable Partner

President Emomali Rahmon described China as a reliable and trusted strategic partner, saying Tajikistan seeks to further expand high-level exchanges and practical cooperation with Beijing.

He highlighted interest in strengthening collaboration in trade, agriculture, infrastructure, investment, energy, and people-to-people relations, while also expressing support for broader regional cooperation initiatives.

Officials from both countries said continued engagement and economic coordination would help support modernization efforts and contribute to long-term stability and development in the region.
