Police in Pakistan’s Punjab province killed four militants in an intelligence-based operation in Dera Ghazi Khan’s Kot Mubarak area. The district borders Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, both regions battling long-running insurgencies.

The operation, launched on May 1, was based on reports of militant movement near the provincial boundary. According to police officials, the suspects belonged to the banned organization,TTP and were planning major subversive activities.

Militant Threat Near Provincial Border

Dera Ghazi Khan lies at a strategic crossroads. Militants often use this terrain to move between conflict zones in KP and Balochistan. The police acted swiftly to contain the situation before it could escalate.

A heavy exchange of fire took place between police and the suspects. Four high-value targets were neutralized. Some suspects managed to flee using natural cover. A search-and-sweep operation is currently underway to trace them.

Law enforcement recovered a significant stockpile of weapons, explosives, and communication equipment. According to security sources, the seized items indicate plans for large-scale sabotage.

The recovered material is being analyzed by forensic teams. It may reveal further leads and expose regional sleeper cells or cross-border networks.

Inspector General of Punjab Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, praised the Dera Ghazi Khan Police. He said their quick and effective response had “foiled dangerous plots and protected civilians from harm.”

He added that Punjab Police remained a strong line of defense against anti-state actors operating across provincial borders.

Ongoing Surveillance and Security

Authorities have tightened security across southern Punjab. Intelligence coordination with KP and Balochistan has also intensified. Police patrols have increased, and key installations are under enhanced protection.

This successful operation shows the ongoing militant threat in Pakistan’s border districts. Nevertheless, officials reaffirmed their resolve to fight extremism and keep peace. Moreover, they stressed the need for intelligence sharing and quick responses to stop future attacks. In addition, they urged local communities to stay vigilant. They also asked people to work closely with law enforcement. Together, these efforts aim to ensure lasting stability.
