A moderate earthquake was recorded on 27 April 2026 at 11:46 PST, with a magnitude of 5.7 and a depth of 170 kilometers, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Islamabad.

The epicenter was located in the Afghanistan–Tajikistan border region, at coordinates 37.32°N latitude and 71.30°E longitude.

Tremors Felt in Pakistan

Light to moderate tremors were reported in several parts of northern Pakistan, including Islamabad, Swat, Shangla, and Buner. Residents in these areas reported feeling brief shaking, prompting concern but no immediate reports of damage or casualties at the time of reporting.

Authorities are monitoring the situation, while seismic experts note that deeper earthquakes such as this often spread tremors across wider regions without causing significant surface impact.
