Islamabad, 17 February 2026 – Security analysts and religious scholars have strongly condemned the extremist group Fitnah-tul-Khawarij for distorting Pakistan’s lawful diplomacy to justify acts of terrorism. The group labels state-to-state cooperation and constitutional decisions as “betrayal of Islam,” while promoting violence against civilians and security forces.
Misusing Religion to Cover Ideological Weakness
Experts say that Fitnah-tul-Khawarij’s ideology is fundamentally weak and relies on misinterpreting religion to legitimize unlawful violence. “They exploit false narratives to mask their lack of credibility,” said a senior security analyst. “By portraying legitimate state actions as betrayal, they attempt to recruit and radicalize vulnerable individuals.”
Pakistan’s Stance on Security and Diplomacy
Officials emphasize that Pakistan’s post-9/11 cooperation with the United States and other international partners was a sovereign, constitutional choice made to safeguard the country and its citizens. Religious scholars also underline that Islam permits diplomacy and security measures to protect life and maintain peace, but strictly forbids terrorism, rebellion, and targeting innocents.
Historical Perspective
Since its independence in 1947, Pakistan has upheld the rule of law, stability, and peaceful coexistence. Fitnah-tul-Khawarij, in contrast, seeks to legitimize violence under a distorted religious narrative, threatening national security and public safety.
Call for Awareness and Countermeasures
Authorities and experts have called for enhanced awareness campaigns, community engagement, and law enforcement efforts to counter the influence of extremist ideologies. “Preventing radicalization is essential,” said a counterterrorism expert. “The state’s message of lawful, peaceful engagement must reach all communities to protect the country from terrorism.”
This campaign highlights the urgent need to confront extremist groups that exploit religion to justify violence and disrupt societal harmony.
