Web Desk: As debates over former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s health continue, PTI critics have called for promoting eye donation as an act of humanity beyond politics.

One prominent comment read, “Donating eyes is a service to humanity, above politics. It is time for all of us to set an example and share life—this message is for everyone, including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders.”

Earlier the Government of Pakistan released a statement responding to public concerns over former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s health, stressing that all inmates, including Khan, are provided with timely and comprehensive medical treatment as mandated by law. The announcement came amid protests by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) regarding his well-being.

Prison authorities, officials said, have implemented all necessary measures according to established protocols. Court-submitted reports confirmed that thorough medical examinations were conducted. Claims emphasising that Khan had only “15 percent vision” were described as misleading, reflecting ongoing treatment and gradual improvement rather than a permanent condition.

Eye specialists from the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences and Al-Shifa International carried out detailed assessments within the prison, verifying notable progress in Khan’s eyesight. Authorities noted that fears of lasting damage were unfounded. Both PTI leadership and Khan’s personal doctors received detailed briefings, which were reportedly acknowledged positively.

Government sources added that PTI representatives were invited to attend the medical check-up but did not participate. Officials suggested that the absence was linked to internal party matters, not any failure on the part of prison authorities.

The government also criticised PTI’s protest tactics, noting that road closures and disruption of daily life were inconveniencing ordinary citizens. Officials urged political parties to prioritise governance and public service over politicising health issues.

Authorities reiterated that Khan’s medical condition should be assessed on factual, scientific grounds and confirmed that all responsible institutions are carrying out their duties in accordance with the law.
