Iran has executed Irfan Shakourzadeh, a 29-year-old master’s student in aerospace engineering who was accused by Iranian authorities of spying for the CIA and Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency.

According to Iranian media reports, Shakourzadeh was studying at the Iran University of Science and Technology and was involved in satellite-related projects before his arrest. Authorities alleged that he transferred sensitive satellite data and information related to employees working in strategic scientific sectors.

Iranian officials claimed that he maintained contact with foreign intelligence operatives through platforms including LinkedIn, WhatsApp, and Google calls. Reports further alleged that he received payments in cryptocurrency in exchange for providing classified information.

State-linked media said the case was tied to accusations of espionage and cooperation with foreign intelligence services, charges that ultimately resulted in a death sentence.

The execution has drawn attention because of Shakourzadeh’s academic background and his reported involvement in scientific and aerospace research projects linked to satellite technology. Iranian authorities have increasingly emphasized national security concerns surrounding sensitive technological and military-related sectors in recent years.
