Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has described his recent visit to Pakistan as highly successful and strategically significant, saying that consultations held with officials in Islamabad could open new pathways for peace and stability in the region.
Speaking to the media upon his arrival in Moscow, Araghchi said that detailed discussions in Islamabad covered past developments and current conditions under which stalled negotiations between Iran and the United States could potentially resume.
He noted that Pakistan has recently emerged as an effective facilitator in efforts to reduce tensions between Tehran and Washington, a role reflected in the positive tone of his engagements in Islamabad.
Meeting with President Putin
Araghchi also confirmed that he is scheduled to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow to discuss the ongoing war situation and broader global developments. He emphasized that coordination between Tehran and Moscow remains crucial in the current international environment.
Strait of Hormuz and Regional Security
Referring to his visit to Oman, the Iranian foreign minister highlighted the importance of ensuring safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, calling it a critical global concern. He said Iran and Oman, as coastal states, share a common understanding on safeguarding this strategic waterway and protecting mutual interests, with continued expert-level consultations expected.
Diplomatic analysts view Araghchi’s remarks as an implicit acknowledgment of Pakistan’s growing diplomatic relevance, with Islamabad increasingly seen as a responsible mediator between major global powers.
