Islamabad police have issued a detailed traffic plan ahead of the arrival of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who is visiting Pakistan today on the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
According to a police spokesperson, the traffic plan will remain in effect from 11am to 3pm to ensure smooth movement during the official visit.
Temporary diversions will be placed on Islamabad Expressway, Murree Road, and Club Road during these hours.
Police advised traffic coming from Rawat towards Islamabad Expressway to use the Rawalpindi–Peshawar Road as an alternative route.
Motorcyclists travelling from IJP Road and Srinagar Highway towards the Expressway have been asked to use service roads and adjacent lanes.
Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan is arriving with a high-level delegation, including ministers and senior officials.
This is his first visit to Pakistan as UAE President. During the visit, he will meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to review bilateral relations and discuss regional and international issues.
The visit is being viewed as important for strengthening economic and diplomatic ties.
Earlier, residents in Islamabad witnessed fighter jets flying overhead which led to speculation on social media.
Officials clarified that the jets belonged to the Pakistan Air Force and were part of routine security rehearsals for a foreign leader’s visit.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Airports Authority announced a temporary closure of Islamabad’s airspace today and tomorrow. Passengers have been advised to check updated flight schedules with their airlines.
