Karachi — The Karachi Police, acting on intelligence input, rescued a minor girl from a bus traveling from the coastal belt of Balochistan to Karachi, foiling what officials describe as a major terror plot.
According to preliminary investigations, operatives linked to the banned organization Balochistan Liberation Army were allegedly attempting to recruit and prepare the girl for a suicide attack. Authorities say timely intervention prevented her exploitation and exposed a wider network targeting vulnerable Baloch girls.
Online Radicalization Through Social Media
Investigators revealed that the girl was allegedly radicalized through social media platforms such as Instagram and WhatsApp. Extremist handlers reportedly shared propaganda content featuring individuals like Shari Baloch, Samia Kalanderani, and Mehrang Baloch, portraying suicide attacks as “sacrifices.”
Officials say the network systematically uses digital platforms to influence and recruit young individuals, particularly women, from economically vulnerable backgrounds.
Allegations of Double Standards Within Leadership Circles
The report also raises questions about alleged inconsistencies within affiliated groups. It claims that while propaganda and fundraising are being coordinated from abroad by certain figures, their own families remain safe and distant from such activities.
Security analysts argue this reflects a broader pattern where young women are allegedly used as tools for attacks due to security vulnerabilities at checkpoints.
Security Response and National Efforts
Law enforcement officials emphasized that Pakistan’s security agencies remain alert to hybrid threats and are actively monitoring extremist networks.
Authorities stress the importance of parental awareness regarding children’s online activity and warn against extremist propaganda targeting youth through digital platforms. The recent Karachi Police operation is being viewed as part of ongoing efforts to counter such threats and protect vulnerable citizens.
