Karachi UAE feeder shipping service launch

New feeder shipping service connects Karachi Port with Fujairah and Khor Fakkan, boosting Pakistan’s maritime trade network.

March 14, 2026

Pakistan has taken a significant step to strengthen its maritime trade connectivity with the launch of a new feeder shipping service linking Karachi Port to key ports in the United Arab Emirates.

The announcement was made by Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, who described the initiative as an important development in enhancing Pakistan’s transshipment capabilities and supporting the country’s growing trade network.

Strengthening Maritime Connectivity

According to the minister, the new service will be operated in collaboration with Karachi Gateway Terminal (Private) Limited (KGTL), a key business partner of Karachi Port Trust. The feeder service will create a regular shipping connection between Karachi and two strategic UAE ports—Port of Fujairah and Port of Khor Fakkan.

This new link is expected to significantly enhance maritime connectivity for Pakistan’s trading community, especially as regional shipping routes and logistics networks continue to evolve.

Boost for Pakistan’s Trade Network

Officials say the feeder service will provide Pakistani importers and exporters with reliable access to global container shipping routes, ensuring smoother logistics and faster cargo movement.

The service will call at KGTL, which operates under the international port management network of AD Ports Group through its global operating arm Noatum Ports.

The minister confirmed that the first vessel under the new service arrived at Karachi Gateway Terminal on the evening of March 11, officially launching regular operations.

Supporting Pakistan’s Economic Growth

Maritime officials believe the new feeder link will play an important role in maintaining supply chain continuity and strengthening Pakistan’s integration with international markets.

By establishing consistent shipping connections with major regional transshipment hubs, Pakistan aims to improve trade efficiency, reduce logistical bottlenecks, and expand opportunities for exporters.

The initiative reflects the country’s broader efforts to modernize its maritime sector and position Pakistan as a competitive gateway for regional trade and global shipping networks.
