Security forces carried out two successful operations in the districts of Tank and Dera Ismail Khan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), five militants linked to Fitna al Khawarij were killed during the actions. The military said the militants were involved in anti state activities with alleged Indian backing.

According to the ISPR statement, the operations were launched during the night between May 7 and May 8, 2026. The actions were based on intelligence reports about the presence of militants in the area.

In Tank district, security forces engaged in a heavy exchange of fire with militants. As a result, four militants were killed. Meanwhile, another operation was conducted in Dera Ismail Khan where one more militant was shot dead.

Weapons Recovered as Clearance Operations Continue

After the operations, security forces recovered a large quantity of weapons, ammunition and explosive materials from the killed militants. The ISPR said the militants were directly involved in attacks on security forces, targeted killings and extortion activities in the region.

Meanwhile, the military stated that operations are still ongoing to clear the area of any remaining militants. A sanitisation and clearance operation is being carried out to ensure complete security in the affected areas.

The statement further said that Pakistan’s security forces remain determined to eliminate terrorism from the country. At the same time, local residents praised the successful operations and assured full support to the forces in the fight against terrorism.
