A joint intelligence-based operation has been carried out by security forces, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), and police in the Hlimzai area of Mamond, Mohmand district. The operation was launched to arrest a wanted alleged facilitator of the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), identified as Ahmed Sher son of Noor Sher.

Details of the Incident

According to reports, when security forces raided the area to arrest the suspect, activists of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) along with local supporters attempted to obstruct the operation. The protesters reportedly attacked security personnel with sticks and stones in an effort to help the suspect escape.

Police Response

Seeing the escalating situation, additional police contingents were immediately deployed to the scene. Police successfully dispersed the violent crowd using professional tactics and restored law and order in the area. Authorities stated that strict action will be taken against elements challenging the writ of the state.

Security Sources’ Statement

Security sources say Ahmed Sher was involved in providing logistical and other support to the TTP network, and his arrest marks an important development in ongoing counterterrorism operations. Local circles have expressed concern over violent attempts to shield alleged facilitators, while also extending support to law enforcement actions. Search operations are continuing in the area, and the situation is reported to be under control.
